ANNA CURTIS (she/her)

"I found yoga following a pelvic reconstruction surgery at the age of 22, a surgery that had a brutal recovery period and I had to relearn how to walk. I was born with hyper-mobility and a skeletal deformity, but was an elite gymnast. My body was great at moving, and simultaneously hated it. Following my surgery, I studied yoga to fix the entire system, not just one part. I also was introduced to the Wim Hof Method (cold plunging, breathwork, and philosophy). These practices activated parts of my hip muscles that had been turned off for years, realigned my sacrum and made walking so much easier, and each day I felt more in tune with my spirit. Yoga brought me back home to myself. I am told by doctors and PT that I have one of the most successful recoveries they've seen.

My teaching style is upbeat and alignment focused, and I always try to give a good mix of mindful movement, relaxation, and introspection. I like to teach classes open to all-levels, offering modifications and empowering students to do whatever is best for their body. I'm told I have a soothing voice, which I use to make jokes and offer soothing meditations. I approach each class with the intention of making students feel more in tune with their body, balanced, and at peace.”
